Ooi's extensive background includes leadership roles at prestigious hospitality brands such as Shangri-La, St. Giles, and Hilton. At Aloft Langkawi, she played a pivotal role in achieving the hotelโs highest-ever monthly rooms revenue in December 2024, consistently surpassing budgeted targets and enhancing the hotel's market position. Her expertise in revenue strategy, brand positioning, and market growth will be instrumental as Iconic Group aims to strengthen its commercial leadership and brand presence in Penang.
Her appointment coincides with the recent opening of Iconic Marjorie Penang, a five-star Marriott Internationalโs Tribute Portfolio hotel, which cost $38 million (RM180 million) to build and features 298 rooms. The hotel is Penangโs first high-rise to achieve Gold certification under the Green Building Index, highlighting its commitment to sustainability.
Ooi will report to Group General Manager Kevin Cheah, as she works to drive revenue growth and elevate market performance across Iconic Group's hospitality portfolio.
