Antigua and Barbuda hosts US travel advisers

Antigua and Barbuda recently hosted its US Travel Advisory Board for an on-island retreat, aiming to enhance trade partnerships and increase future bookings. Led by Dean Fenton, US Director for the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA), and Minister of Tourism Charles Fernandez, the event offered travel advisers immersive experiences and strategic discussions to reinforce the destination's appeal.

The retreat, marking the final meeting for the current Advisory Board before a new committee is appointed in March, included site inspections at premier resorts, culinary experiences, and marine activities. Advisers stayed at Blue Waters Resort & Spa and Hodges Bay Resort & Spa, participating in strategic meetings and enjoying local cuisine at renowned restaurants such as The Palm and The Cove.

Minister Fernandez expressed gratitude for the advisers' ongoing support, stating, โ€œTheir presence here reinforces the confidence we have in our tourism product.โ€ Dean Fenton added, โ€œBy experiencing Antigua and Barbuda firsthand, our advisers are better equipped to authentically sell the destination.โ€

The programme also emphasised responsible tourism, with advisers engaging in community outreach, including a beach clean-up and donations to the Denis Bowers Rehabilitation Centre. This initiative underscores ABTA's commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

The insights gathered from the retreat will inform ABTA's marketing strategies as Antigua and Barbuda looks to grow its tourism sector in 2026 and beyond. The Advisory Board comprises senior travel advisers specialising in luxury travel, destination weddings, and experiential travel, ensuring diverse perspectives in shaping future initiatives.
