Image Nation Abu Dhabi champions Emirati talent in 2025

Image Nation Abu Dhabi has marked 2025 as a transformative year for Emirati talent in film, television, and emerging storytelling formats. The studio played a crucial role in providing opportunities for local filmmakers and creatives, ensuring that Emirati voices were at the forefront of the industry. This commitment was exemplified by the success of the film HOBA, directed by Emirati filmmaker Majid Al Ansari, which gained international recognition and won Best Picture at Fantastic Fest in Austin.

The film's development was significantly influenced by Emirati executive Fatima Al Dhaheri, who ensured cultural authenticity throughout the production. Casting was led by Emirati casting director Alwiya Thani, featuring a strong Emirati presence, including Bdoor Mohammed in her first leading role. HOBA's success continued with selections at the Sitges Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival, further cementing its global impact.

Beyond feature films, Image Nation Abu Dhabi launched the UAE's first Screenlife Accelerator Programme, offering mentorship and training for emerging filmmakers. The studio also produced the second season of Million Dollar Listing: UAE, supporting local creatives in non-scripted television.

Innovative projects like A Story Called Zain, the region's first AI-driven crowdsourced film, showcased new storytelling methods. Internationally, Image Nation's partnership with Spooky Pictures facilitated Emirati projects reaching global platforms, including The Plague's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Ben Ross, CEO of Image Nation Abu Dhabi, emphasised the studio's role in promoting the UAE's creative influence globally. Looking forward, Image Nation Abu Dhabi invites Emirati creatives to engage with its expanding slate of projects, aiming to shape the future of the UAE's film and television industry
