Radisson Hotel Group has announced an ambitious plan to expand its Verified Net Zero Hotels (VNZ) programme to 100 locations worldwide by 2030. The announcement was made at the International Hospitality Investment Forum 2026 in Berlin. The initiative, which began as a pilot, aims to demonstrate that existing hotel buildings can achieve net zero status. The expansion will begin in Norway, with further roll-outs planned for Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and South Africa in 2026.

The VNZ programme focuses on eliminating Scope 1 and 2 emissions through electrification and renewable energy, whilst significantly reducing Scope 3 emissions. Each hotel will undergo third-party verification by TÜV Rheinland to ensure compliance with the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels. Federico J. González, CEO of Radisson Hotel Group, stated, “Verified Net Zero Hotels are an important step in our net zero transformation, setting a new standard for how hospitality can reduce its environmental impact.”

The programme has already shown promising results in Manchester and Oslo, where hotels have achieved high guest awareness and strong carbon reduction. Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer, noted, “The excellent results from the Manchester and Oslo VNZ hotels support the expansion of Radisson Hotel Group’s pioneering programme.”

As sustainability becomes increasingly important to regulators, investors, and guests, Radisson's VNZ roll-out positions the group as a leader in operational net zero initiatives. The programme aims to offer guests a net-zero footprint during their stay, reinforcing the group's commitment to sustainable hospitality
