Syria unveils $300m Damascus mega-development project

Syria's Ministry of Tourism has announced a partnership with Ezdihar Holding to develop "The Beaumont", a $250–300 million project set to transform Damascus into a hub for tourism and business. This ambitious development, covering 77,000 square metres, is expected to be completed within four years and aims to generate 1,500–2,500 direct jobs and 3,000–3,500 indirect positions.

Located near the historic Umayyad Square, The Beaumont will feature two landmark towers along the Barada River. The first tower will house a five-star hotel with 150 rooms, including presidential suites and premium dining options. The second tower will offer luxury residences, ranging from one-bedroom flats to expansive duplex penthouses. Additionally, the project will include a two-level retail centre, an outdoor promenade with cafés and restaurants, and a 10-storey business centre.

Tourism Minister Mazen Al Salhani stated, "The Beaumont marks a pivotal milestone for Syria’s tourism sector, representing a major leap in our efforts to revitalise the industry and enhance the country’s appeal as a premier investment destination."

The project will be executed through a 50-year joint venture between the Ministry and Ezdihar Holding, ensuring financial and administrative independence. Ezdihar Holding has also committed to a training initiative for 30 Ministry employees at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, to enhance skills in hospitality and tourism investment.

The Beaumont is poised to become a landmark in Damascus, supporting Syria's vision of a diversified, sustainable economy through public-private partnerships
