Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street has officially opened its doors, marking the largest purpose-built hotel debut in Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD) this year. Developed by Spacious Group with an investment of $90 million, the 195-room hotel is located at 492 La Trobe Street, West Melbourne, and is the first new-build Mercure to enter the city centre in over a decade.

The 18-storey hotel, designed by Sora Interiors and LiFE Architecture, boasts six suites, a restaurant and bar named Foundry, and a gym. The lobby's design pays homage to the site's history as a tinsmith factory, featuring an abstract artwork of tin offcuts, complemented by a travertine reception desk and soft lighting for a calming atmosphere. The hotel's strategic location offers guests easy access to Southern Cross Station, Marvel Stadium, and Queen Victoria Market.

General Manager Justin Phillips highlighted the hotel's unique position, stating, “We’re in a unique pocket of the city and are fortunate to have great separation between ourselves and other tall buildings on all sides.” This ensures guests enjoy stunning views of Docklands, Flagstaff Gardens, and the CBD.

The hotel's standout feature is Suite 1603, which includes a two-person bathtub overlooking the city, ideal for families or groups. Guest rooms are designed with floor-to-ceiling windows and nature-inspired décor, providing a serene retreat amidst the bustling city. With its distinctive design and prime location, Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street is set to become a notable addition to Melbourne's hospitality landscape
