Air Canada and Ponta Delgada Airport have announced a new direct service connecting Ponta Delgada and Toronto, enhancing travel links between the Azores and Canada. The seasonal service, commencing on 12 June 2026, will operate thrice weekly, providing a convenient six-hour journey between the two destinations.
The launch was celebrated at João Paulo II Airport in the Azores, attended by Portuguese authorities and representatives from the tourism and business sectors. Flights will depart Ponta Delgada on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with returns from Toronto on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Rocky Lo, Managing Director of International Sales at Air Canada, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “We are delighted to launch our new direct service between Ponta Delgada and Toronto, further strengthening the ties between the Azores, Portugal and Canada.” The service aims to boost tourism and business links, offering seamless onward connections through Air Canada’s Toronto hub to destinations across Canada, the US, and South America.
Passengers can enjoy the convenience of U.S. Customs and Immigration preclearance in Toronto, arriving in the US as domestic passengers. The service will utilise Air Canada’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, featuring Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Additionally, travellers can benefit from Aeroplan, Air Canada’s loyalty programme, allowing points earning and redemption across its global network
