Aer Lingus welcomes two new XLR Aircraft to its fleet

Aer Lingus has taken delivery of its first two new Airbus A321XLR aircraft in Dublin Airport. Registered as EI-XLR St Lelia / Liadhain and EI-XLT St Melanie / Mella, the aircraft are the first two of six new Airbus A321XLR’s bound for Aer Lingus to serve existing transatlantic routes and fly customers to new destinations such as Nashville and Indianapolis in 2025. The A321XLR is a single-aisle extra-long-range aircraft flying up to 8,700km, a 15% increase in range compared to the A321LR. Aer Lingus is the second airline in the world to operate the A321XLR as well as the second in the International Airlines Group (IAG). The new aircraft’s long-range capabilities enable Aer Lingus to connect customers in comfort to new destinations and serve existing routes on its transatlantic network, with 18 routes to the United States now offered by the airline from Dublin Airport. Customers travelling on the A321XLR will enjoy more space on board the widest single-aisle aircraft cabin on the market. The aircraft features larger overhead bins allowing 60% more cabin bags, as well as more comfort in wider seats, the latest technology for in-flight entertainment and acoustic engineering for quieter cabins. The Aer Lingus A321XLR is configured with 184 seats in a two-class layout featuring 16 full-flat Business Class and 168 Economy Class seats. The aircraft also has up to 20% lower fuel burn per seat than similar previous generation aircraft and is capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The long-range capabilities of the XLR enable us to travel deeper into North America, offering previously unserved markets greater connectivity to Europe through our Dublin hub. Aer Lingus’ inaugural service direct to Denver, Colorado, took to the skies at 3:30pm  from Dublin Airport, as the Irish airline continues to expand its transatlantic offering.  This new route marks the airline’s largest ever North American network, offering British customers access to even more US cities with the added benefit of US Pre-Clearance in Dublin. Aer Lingus is flying high, as the newly returned Minneapolis St. Paul (MSP) route takes off from Dublin Airport for the first time since it was paused in March 2020.  This restart marks the full restoration of the airline’s pre-pandemic North American network, offering British customers access to even more US gateways. From today – 29 April 2024 – Aer Lingus will offer four weekly flights between Dublin and Minneapolis St. Paul, with flights operated by the airline’s widebody Airbus A330 aircraft. Flights have been timed to allow seamless connections to and from the airline’s 15 destinations in Mainland Britain, including London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, giving customers unrivalled access to Minneapolis. The non-stop service to Minneapolis St. Paul was first launched in July 2019, but was paused less than a year later due to the COVID-19 pandemic.     Aer Lingus is set to serve its customers a taste of summer, with its new Business Class menu and expanded in-flight entertainment library. The new inflight dining options are inspired by the best Irish cuisine and have been hand-chosen based on customer feedback with upgrades to both Economy and Business Class menus. Aer Lingus refreshes seasonal menus every three months and on the new Business Class menu, customers can now enjoy dishes such as skin-on thyme and parsley chicken supreme, herb-infused roasted pork, flaky pan-fried hake and citrus-marinated salmon. Those looking for a lighter, or vegetarian, option can also now look forward to a new rich root vegetable and pearl barley stew, served with a seasonal salad. Other highlights include Irish smoked salmon, saffron-poached prawns, and a roast parsnip and seasonal apple soup to start. To sweeten the deal, Aer Lingus has also revamped its dessert menu, with customers now able to enjoy a choice of lemon cream mousse or a local cheese board. All dishes are focused on seasonal, sustainably sourced, local produce, as the airline continues to deliver customers a hearty meal wherever they are in the world. Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus launch new codeshare partnership

Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus (EI) are launching a new codeshare partnership beginning 13th March 2024. The codeshare will give customers greater access to more destinations across the UK and Ireland, and benefit passengers across the globe – including in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and New Zealand. Qatar Airways will add its codeshare on flights operated by Aer Lingus (EI), the national carrier of Ireland, and Aer Lingus Regional, in a move which further strengthens Qatar Airways’ ongoing partnership expansion with International Airlines Group (IAG). Once implemented, Qatar Airways will have codeshare coverage with all IAG carriers, including British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, and Aer Lingus, solidifying its position in the European market. This new codeshare will enable connections between Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus (EI) flights through Dublin, London, and Manchester. Customers will be able to travel between Irish and UK destinations including Aberdeen, Belfast, Cork, and Glasgow, and Qatar Airways’ extensive global network through Doha’s hub at Hamad International Airport. Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said: “Our new codeshare partnership with Aer Lingus demonstrates Qatar Airways’ commitment to its customers, who will benefit from a wider choice of global destinations.
