Midcounties Co-op Travel has reached 50 branches following an acquisition of Travel Angels.
The consortium has purchased the eight branches in the south west of England for an undisclosed sum. All eight shops will keep their Travel Angels name and will keep on all 35 employees.
“All privately-owned businesses have to address succession issues. In Midcounties we have found the right successor to ensure its continuity and long term future and also to maintain our ethos,” said Peter Grayson, managing director of Travel Angels.
The move is part of Midcounties strategy to become a leading independent retailer, with its sights on opening branches around East Midlands Airport and building links with Birmingham and Bristol airports.
