Air India will soon resume its Dreamliner operations.
The Director General of Civil Aviation, Arun Mishra yesterday lifted the grounding order on these planes after a joint team of Air India and Boeing officials briefed him on the changes carried out in the battery system that had caused all the problems in this brand new plane.
“For a week to 10 days, test flights will be conducted before the plane can start commercial flights,” Mishra was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Boeing has carried out the required changes in one of the six Dreamliner aircraft, and is working on the second plane. “Pilots have not flown this plane since mid-January and they need to do refresher route checks. We hope to start regular commercial flights by next Thursday. Boeing has rectified one plane and is working on another one. We hope to get five, if not all six Dreamliners, modified by the month-end,” an Air India official said.
