The Malaysian airports operator is threatening the success of its budget carriers with plan to raise airport fees in the coming years. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) will raise the costs of landing and parking fees at Kuala Lumpur international Airport by 18% per year, starting in January. Air Asia X Chief Executive Officer, Azran Osman-Rani, responded angrily to the decision in which airlines were not consulted. Further frustrations were voiced at delays to the construction of a second airport for budget carriers, which would have avoided exposure to the hike in fees.
