Akasa Air expands fleet with 34th aircraft

Akasa Air has bolstered its fleet to 34 aircraft with the induction of its third Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 in less than two months. The latest addition, bearing registration number VT-YBL, landed at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on 16 February 2026, after a journey from Everett, Seattle, via Keflavik, Iceland, and Larnaca, Cyprus.

The aircraft, purpose-built to Akasa's specifications, features Safran Z200 seats designed to enhance passenger comfort with a 4-inch recline, ergonomic backrests, and USB ports for connectivity. This expansion is part of Akasa Air's strategy to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade.

Since its inception in August 2022, Akasa Air has rapidly scaled its operations, now connecting 26 domestic and six international cities. The airline has placed a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 192 more expected over the next six years, reflecting its commitment to meeting India's growing travel demand.

Akasa Air's focus on reliability and customer satisfaction has made it a preferred carrier, serving over 24 million passengers since launch. The airline's fleet, known for its fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, aligns with its goal of maintaining the youngest and greenest fleet in India
