AmaWaterways have confirmed the selection of Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) president Christine Duffy as the godmother of its newest ship the AmaCerto. Duffy will name the ship at a christening ceremony in Germany on May 16, 2012. The selection of Duffy recognizes the significant contribution of the river cruise sector even within CLIA, which not long ago had been a group predominantly for oceangoing cruise ships.
“We knew the AmaCerto needed a godmother befitting the modern elegance of the beautiful ship,” said Kristin Karst, AmaWateways’ executive vice president and co-owner. “Christine Duffy’s long history in the
industry and her love for cruising makes her a perfect fit.”
