Business in the Asia Pacific region has helped Skyscanner towards bookings of more than GBP2.2 billion for 2012, it has revealed.
The Edinburgh-based travel search site said its EBITDA has more than doubled to GBP11m, with an 84% increase in traffic and monthly visits at 30m a month.
Its APAC traffic has tripled since opening its office in Singapore in 2011, with the site now setting its sights on the US with an office opening in Miami.
“We are already experiencing rapid growth in North and South America led by growth of our mobile apps and the time is right to establish our Americas base,” said Gareth Williams, CEO and co-founder of Skyscanner. “It’s our ambition at Skyscanner to be the number one in travel search globally and we’re confident that our Miami office will play a big part in achieving that goal.”
