ATIA acknowledges members’ vital contributions

The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has expressed gratitude to its members for their significant contributions to the travel sector, which is valued at $69 billion. ATIA CEO Dean Long praised members for their efforts in supporting travellers, advocating for the industry, and providing crucial insights. "That collaboration strengthens our voice and reinforces the critical role accredited travel businesses play when disruption hits," Long stated.

ATIA represents a substantial portion of Australia's travel industry, including travel agents, corporate agents, tour operators, and wholesalers. In 2025, ATIA members facilitated $13.5 billion in retail bookings, $11.8 billion in corporate bookings, and $5.6 billion in land operations. Notably, 70% of international air sales and over 90% of corporate sales in Australia are conducted through ATIA members rather than directly with airlines. Additionally, 73% of cruise travellers rely on travel advisers for bookings.

The association's membership predominantly consists of small businesses, with women comprising 72% of the workforce. ATIA administers the largest accreditation scheme for travel businesses in Australia, representing over 1,120 members and more than 28,000 employees. This network supports nearly 17 million Australian travellers annually.

ATIA's recognition of its members underscores the importance of collaboration and accreditation in maintaining the industry's resilience and effectiveness, particularly during challenging times
