ATP Flight School, the largest flight training provider in the US, is resuming operations at Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, this spring. This move aims to meet the growing demand for airline pilots by offering its accelerated Airline Career Pilot Programme to aspiring pilots in the Pittsburgh region.
The return of ATP Flight School to Allegheny County Airport, which has historically been a hub for aviation education, is expected to significantly enhance flight training opportunities in the area. The programme offers a structured curriculum, airline-modelled training, and airline-backed Career Tracks, providing a direct path to careers with major airlines. Lance Bagnoff, Director of Allegheny County Airport, highlighted the importance of such programmes, stating, "As the aviation industry faces a shortage of 24,000 commercial airline pilots in 2026, programmes like ATP's are critical to training the next generation of professional pilots."
Michael Arnold, Vice President of Marketing at ATP Flight School, emphasised the school's commitment to delivering comprehensive airline career solutions. "Whether students are looking for accelerated full-time training with the Airline Career Pilot Programme or more flexible scheduling with the Flex Commercial Pilot Programme, ATP has an airline-backed Career Track to take them from zero experience to the flight deck at a major airline," Arnold said.
ATP Flight School is now scheduling class dates at Allegheny County Airport, inviting aspiring pilots to schedule an introductory flight. This initiative not only strengthens the airport's role in aviation education but also supports workforce development in the region
