Australia sets up east coast tourist trails
Australia has set up a new range of tourism trails on its east coast, between Sydney and Brisbane.
The new ‘Culture and Heritage Trail’, set up by The Legendary Pacific Coast (TLPC), highlights 30 locations en routes, including natural and manmade attractions. A further six special interest trails are also being planned.
“This Culture and Heritage Trail is the first in a series of seven special interest trails to be launched over the next four months,” said TLPC Chair, Belinda Novicky. “The other trails will deliver popular favourites, new product and some hidden treasures for visitors interested in food and wine, surfing safaris, national parks, whale trails, backpacker working holidays and aboriginal stories.”
Ms Novicky added that the new tourist routes, which will be promoted via the TLPC website, apps and social media, will also include smaller towns, which she says are often bypassed. “They retain their character and interest and remain very much a part of the rich tapestry of this great drive,” she commented.
Around 340 tourism operators along the route are also participating in the programme, posting offers and special deals on TLPC website.
The trails were set up following funding received from Destination NSW.
