Avalon Waters has christened its fifth ship at an event in Koblenz Germany featuring members of the media, company executives and the ship’s godmother, Patricia Schultz.
The ship, Avalon Expression, can handle 166-passengers and will sail on the Danube from the christening onwards.
“It is an honour, without doubt, but also a thrill and a delight to have this chance to christen the Avalon Expression,” said Schutlz who is known for being the author of ‘1000 Places To See Before You Die’ “I know that countless adventurers will fill every departure, excited by the promise of exploring Europe’s history-lined rivers. Sailing through its most special corners on such a beautiful vessel is something that makes me exceptionally proud!”
The European river cruise market has grown rapidly over the last few years, with figures released by the PSA – as it was – indicating strong increases throughout Europe’s ‘hero’ rivers. Avalon itself will be bringing the number of ships in its fleet to eight by 2014.
