AYANA Bali hosts world’s first destination school

The world’s first destination school just opened its doors at the AYANA Estate in Bali.

Guidepost Montessori AYANA Bali is an initiative of the Cosmic Education Group (CEG) which operates Montessori schools throughout Asia.

The new institution marks its entry into the Southeast Asian market, and is aligned with its aim to provide excellent Montessori education to families within the region.

Inspired by traditional design

The school’s AYANA Estate campus takes inspiration from a traditional Balinese family compound.

Here, learning spaces in the campus are housed in individual structures within a perimeter wall. The distinctive structures are arranged around a central courtyard to foster a sense of community and connection to the natural environment.

The design enables Guidepost Montessori AYANA Bali to create an immersive, holistic learning experience that is grounded in the local context.

A home for directed learning

At the heart of the Guidepost Montessori AYANA Bali experience is the long-term academic program for children aged 2.5 to 6 years.

Called Children’s House, this carefully prepared, child-sized classroom allows children to direct their own learning, building confidence and social skills while maximizing their capability to learn and love learning.

This learning environment includes five different classroom areas, each with enticing and sequenced materials that children are introduced to over a three-year period, tailored to their individual developmental timelines.

Key program highlights include: developing independence via practical life activities; encouraging scientific thinking through sensorial materials; individualised guidance for basic literacy; fostering an understanding of the world via exposure and experimentation; and giving children concrete materials for the lifelong retention of mathematical concepts.
