The Azamara Journey cruise ship started its maiden Asian season on 23 December 2012, arriving in Singapore for the first time following an 11-night voyage from Chennai.
The liner, operated by Azamara Club Cruises, will now homeport in Singapore and Hong Kong during the winter 2013, as well as undergoing a drydock renovation in Singapore this month.
An official ceremony to welcome the ship to Singapore was held onboard, with Melvin Vu, CEO of SATS-Creuers Cruise Services exchanging plaques with the Azamara Journey’s Captain Johannes Tysse.
The arrival of Azamara Journey marks the brand’s fifth consecutive season in Asia, with the new liner taking over from the Azamara Quest, which had been based in the region for the past four years.
Azamara Journey began its Asian season with a 14-night round-trip voyage from Singapore to Koh Samui, Bangkok, Sihanoukville and Ho Chi Minh City. It will then enter the drydock until mid-January, following which it will offer a series of eight- to 17-night voyages in Southeast Asia as well as two 14-night North Asian sailings to and from Hong Kong.
The 11-deck ship carries 694 passengers.
