Bahrain International Airport sets operational records

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), which operates Bahrain International Airport (BIA), has announced record-breaking performance for 2025, driven by unprecedented cargo volumes and robust passenger traffic. The airport handled 405,217 tonnes of cargo, a 3.2% increase from the previous year, solidifying its status as a regional logistics leader. Passenger numbers also rose to 9.74 million, up 4.2% from 2024, with aircraft movements totalling 97,740.

BIA's network now spans 74 destinations across six continents, facilitated by partnerships with 39 airlines. In 2025, the airport expanded its route map to include new destinations such as London Gatwick, Nairobi, New York, Bucharest, Ashgabat, and Liège. The top five fastest-growing destinations were Singapore, Bengaluru, Abu Dhabi, Najaf, and Sharjah.

The airport's busiest day for aircraft movements was 14 April, whilst 8 August saw the highest passenger volumes. The peak hour for aircraft movements was at 01:00 AM, with the busiest passenger activity at 09:00 PM. BAC Acting Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Mohamed Janahi commented on the success, stating, “BIA has demonstrated remarkable operational reliability and connectivity over the past year, facilitated by the dedication of airline partners and the airport community.”

Looking ahead to 2026, BIA aims to enhance the passenger experience and continue its growth trajectory, aligning with Bahrain’s economic development goals. As the Kingdom's aviation gateway, BIA connects passengers and cargo to key markets across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond
