Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen, located in Japan's largest ski area, has completed a multi-million US dollar refurbishment, enhancing its appeal as a premium, year-round destination. The project, initiated after the resort's rebranding and 2024 acquisition by Travel + Leisure Co., has upgraded all 32 rooms with new furnishings and a design that blends traditional Japanese style with modern minimalism.
The resort now features a revitalised restaurant offering a mix of traditional Japanese and international buffets, alongside a new pizza bar with ski-in/ski-out access. A whisky bar, showcasing local sake, Japanese whisky, and craft beers, is set to open for the ski season, providing a chic spot for après-ski relaxation. Additionally, the resort's onsens and common areas have been enhanced for greater comfort.

Ski enthusiasts will benefit from an upgraded ski shop equipped with state-of-the-art gear and professional repair services. The resort will also offer English-speaking ski and snowboard guides to assist guests of all skill levels. Warren Cullum, Senior Vice President Operations at Travel + Leisure Co., stated, "This transformation was a strategic investment in the quality of our club members’ experiences in one of the world’s best ski destinations."
Club Wyndham Shirakabaso Shiga Kogen provides access to 15 ski areas via gondolas and lifts, with additional areas accessible by bus or car. As the closest major ski area to Tokyo, it offers a convenient three-hour journey from the capital. The surrounding Joshin’etsu Kogen National Park adds to the allure with its scenic hiking trails and wildlife, making it an all-season destination.
