The agent website launched by Midcounties Co-op Travel and On Holiday Group has exceeded expectations with a GPB1 million turnover in its first month of trading, it has been revealed.
The website, named Co-op Value, has seen four times the amount of sales it was expected to take in. Alastair Rowland, group general manager, travel services at Midcounties said the simple booking process, low price approach and exclusive hotel discounts had helped with its launch.
The system uses both tour operators and low-cost offering to allow staff to switch-sell.
“Staff love the simplicity of the booking process and product filters, which allow agents to instantly refine searches to take into account hotel reviews from 10 million customers,” said Rowland. “This has allowed agents to quickly focus down on the best value holidays, through this combined price and quality search.”
He predicted tour operations like Co-op Value will grow as they allow agents to dynamic package with a company behind them, while helping agents handle discounting and commission.
