Cocoon & Eckelmann Hotels, a Munich-based lifestyle hotel group, has announced the migration of its entire portfolio of nine properties, comprising over 800 rooms, to Apaleo's open, API-first property management platform. This strategic move is designed to support the group's expansion plans for 2026, following issues with their previous legacy system that caused frequent downtime and required extensive manual work.
The migration process, managed by a single team member, has already seen the first two hotels go live on Apaleo in under six weeks, a notably swift transition compared to typical hotel system migrations. This change is expected to streamline operations and introduce widespread automation, significantly reducing manual tasks and improving the guest experience.
Apaleo's platform will also be implemented at the Hotel Europรคischer Hof in Munich, which Cocoon Hotels will begin operating from 15 February 2026. This 148-room property is set for redevelopment to become the largest Cocoon Hotel in Munich by 2027, marking a significant milestone in the brand's growth strategy.
Mathias Vรถgl, Head of Reservations & Digital Guest Journey at Cocoon Hotels, highlighted the benefits of the new system: โWhat really makes Apaleo stand out is how reliable and flexible it is. Our team finally has a system they can trust to work every day, and thatโs made a huge difference.โ
As Cocoon Hotels continues to evolve its technology stack, priorities include further AI-enabled automation and integrations, alongside supporting new hotel openings. The group is set to open a new hotel in Vienna by the end of 2026, further expanding its presence in Europe
