TripAdvisor has said that 42% of Indians consider online worship as a great option for the elderly. The online travel company’s Pilgrimage Survey, which questioned more than 3,800 Indian travellers, found that close to 87% of travellers said they have undertaken a pilgrimage or religious travel at least once in their lives, while 57% travel for the same purpose at least once a year. The company highlighted the fact that 70% respondents in the 20-30 age bracket were undertaking pilgrimage once a year as well.
Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager of TripAdvisor India elucidated; “It’s not entirely unexpected to find so many Indians heading for pilgrimages and so frequently too, but the real surprise is the percentage of 20-30 year-olds who are taking to religious travel.” Tirupati, Shirdi, Vaishno Devi, Golden Temple, Ajmer Sharif Dargah are amongst popular religious sites in India.
