Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of Dhawa, its fourth brand.
A “casual and contemporary” full-service hotel concept, Dhawa will provide a series of guest-friendly services and amenities. Hotels will be technology-focused, with LED lighting and pop operatic music to provide a “full sensory experience”.
Rooms at Dhawa hotels will be called “Cocoons” and will feature comfortable bedding and moveable tables with in-built power outlets, while the bathrooms, known as “Pods”, will come equipped with a rain shower and Bluetooth music speakers.
There will also be a communal space on each floor, called the “Nest”, which offers complimentary refreshments including hot beverages, soft drinks, local snacks and ice cream.
The hotel lobbies, named “Void”, will feature relaxation pods, while other brand standard facilities will include a restaurant and bar concept called “Nook”, spas, fitness centres and kids clubs.
Banyan Tree has already revealed the locations of the first two Dhawa hotels, including the company’s entry into Cuba.
The brand will make its global debut in March 2016 with the launch of the Dhawa Bo’ao on China’s Hainan Island. This 346-room property will overlook the sea and will include a spa, restaurant, swimming pool and extensive function space.
Dhawa Cayo Las Brujas will then open in Cuba in July 2016, offering 516 rooms, three restaurants, a swimming pool, gym, kids’ club, water sports centre and meeting facilities.
And Banyan Tree is planning a rapid roll-out for the Dhawa brand, with a further five hotels expected to launch in China (in Yunnan, Guizhou and Henan provinces) and Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket). The new brand will also form part of Banyan Tree’s broader expansion plan, through which it is aiming to double its global portfolio over the next five years.
Banyan Tree currently operates hotels and resorts under its Banyan Tree, Angsana and Cassia brands.
