dnata appoints new Managing Director for Netherlands

dnata has announced the appointment of Thiemo van Spellen as the new Managing Director for its Netherlands operations, effective 1 February 2026. Van Spellen, who brings extensive experience in logistics and commercial strategy, previously served as Global Accounts Managing Director at Geopost DPDgroup. His new role will involve enhancing operational excellence and strengthening customer partnerships in both cargo and passenger services.

dnata Netherlands, a key player in the dnata network, operates at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of Europe's busiest aviation hubs. The company serves over 20 airlines, handling approximately 500,000 tonnes of cargo and supporting around 16,000 flights annually. Recent investments in infrastructure and environmental management, including the development of dnata Cargo City Amsterdam, have positioned the business for sustainable growth.

Stewart Angus, dnata's regional CEO for Europe, expressed confidence in van Spellen's ability to lead the company through its next phase of growth. "Thiemo has an excellent combination of global commercial leadership expertise, operational insight, and a people-driven management style," Angus said. Van Spellen succeeds Jan van Anrooy, who has retired after five years of leadership.

Van Spellen stated, "I am pleased to be joining the dnata team at such an exciting time. I am keen to build on dnata's strong foundation in the Netherlands by working closely with customers and partners to deliver value and sustainable growth."

Globally, dnata provides ground handling and cargo services at over 90 airports across 16 countries, handling 794,000 aircraft turns and moving 3.1 million tonnes of cargo in the financial year 2024-25
