Emirates has operated the world’s first Airbus A380 flight to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.

The one-off service touched down on the island yesterday, in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the island’s independence. Passengers included Emirates’ President Tim Clark, and Senior Vice President for West Asia and the Indian Ocean, Ahmed Khoory. They were met on arrival in Mauritius by a delegation including André Viljoen, CEO of Air Mauritius, Emirates’ codeshare partner on the route.

The Emirates A380 flown to Mauritius includes 14 first class suites, 76 flatbed seats in business class and 427 seats in economy class. Emirates usually operate double-daily flights to Mauritius, using a Boeing 777-300.
