Emirates to fly A380 to Mauritius
Emirates has announced plans to operate a special Airbus A380 flight to Mauritius, to mark the 45th anniversary of the islands’ independence.
The one-off A380 flight is scheduled to operate on 12 March 2013, carrying a group of special guests and media. It will become the first commercial A380 flight ever to have landed in Mauritius.
“The A380 is the flagship of the Emirates fleet. We felt that by arranging this special flight it was a fitting way to support the official celebrations of the island’s independence,” said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial for West Asia & the Indian Ocean. “Emirates believes in connecting people and so on this special day for the Mauritian people, it is pleasing to be able to bring even more visitors to the island.”
Emirates has been flying to Mauritius since 2002 and currently operates the route twice a day from Dubai, using a Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
