EU ban starts taking a toll on Indo tourism

Panorama Tours DMC executive, Darma Trisnawinata, told the Jakarta Post that the proposed ban has placed the company in a difficult position. Hundreds of European customers are currently in West Sumatra and plan to visit other Indonesian destinations.
Though the EU ban won’t directly hit domestic flights, it effectively tells Europeans that Indonesian airlines are unsafe.
“This is serious,” Al Purwa, Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies Bali Chairman said in an Antara News release. “The ban also dealt a major blow to domestic tourism as it would also affect the world’s confidence in flights in Indonesia.”
Purwa said EU travel agents are now asking tourists heading to Indonesia to sign a statement declaring they will not fly on the country’s airlines. “If the European tourists ignore the agreement and use Indonesian aircraft
