Eurostar reignites focus on global MICE travel

Eurostar, the high-speed rail service linking the UK and mainland Europe, is re-igniting its focus on meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) travel by showcasing the ease of travelling from London to IBTM World in Barcelona by international high-speed rail.

Representatives from Eurostar, London Convention Bureau (part of London and Partners), Mike Fletcher from IBTM Show Daily team and Evolve Events will leave London St. Pancras International for Paris by Eurostar on Sunday 27th November where they will spend a night before continuing on to Barcelona the following day. The journey time from London to Paris is 2h15, with passengers able to connect from Paris to Barcelona in just over six hours by high-speed rail.

At IBTM, Eurostar and the London Convention Bureau will be showcasing London as a leading destination for business events, as well as the option to connect sustainably by high-speed rail. With a personโ€™s carbon footprint from one flight being the same as making 13 Eurostar journeys*, Eurostar is the greener way to go between the UK and mainland Europe.

Inge Bauwens, Senior Lead - Eurostar for Business & Partnerships - Commercial-Sales โ€œTravel is a huge part of the meeting and events industry, and we want to demonstrate the benefits of choosing sustainable high-speed rail to connect seamlessly between some of Europeโ€™s most important business destinations.

We are travelling from London to Barcelona by train showing travellers how to make the most of their trip; as well as being the greener way to go rail travel offers the space and freedom on-board to make better use of time, whether itโ€™s for work or relaxation.โ€

Barbara Jamison-Woods, Head of Europe, London Convention Bureau โ€œPartnering with Eurostar on our journey by train from London to Barcelona highlights that London is committed to a sustainable future. Low-carbon rail links to mainland Europe make the city easily accessible.

London is the ideal city to host sustainable business events โ€“ and the London Convention Bureau team can help clients put sustainability at the core of their planning. London and Partnersโ€™ programme is aligned with the Mayor of Londonโ€™s ambition to make London a net zero carbon city by 2030 and London is the worldโ€™s first National Park Cityโ€

Eurostar offers unique experiences on board for those booking exclusive coaches for meetings and events. Hosted by an expert and tailored to the travellers, themes are inspired by Eurostarโ€™s most popular destinations and include gin and cheese tasting, an introduction to history of art and the inside track on rugby.
