Eurostar has said it is positive bookings will bounce-back at the end of this year after the Olympics dented travel on its services.
Passenger numbers at the company remained generally flat at 2.6m year-on-year during Q3 while traffic was up 4% during the specific Games period.
Its traffic into London was down in both leisure and business during the third quarter but it has seen growth in numbers and revenue in recent weeks.
“Whilst many corporate clients and business customers decided to steer clear of London during the Games, we nonetheless delivered a solid performance. Looking ahead to the end of the year, the outlook is strong. Bookings have bounced back and we are now seeing a return to more typical travel patterns,” said Nicolas Petrovic, chief executive of Eurostar.
The company also announced it will invest GBP700 million into buying 10 new trains and revamping its current fleet in the next three years. The new e320 trains will be introduced in the next few years.
