Thailand’s tourist industry is expected to expand with at least 10% growth in revenue this year reaching 3.4 trillion baht. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has predicted international arrivals will top 40 million next year driven by bothdomestic and international tourists.Tourism contributes 18%-19% to Thailand’s GDP and it will continue to grow.
According to Mastercard Asia Pacific Destinations Index 2017, there were three Thailand destinations in the top ten Asia Pacific destinations ranked by international overnight arrivals, Bangkok (19.3m), Phuket (9.1m) and Pattaya (8.1m) respectively.
Taking a look at its other Southeast Asia neighbors, Vietnam and Philippines is picking up its speed in infrastructure development in an effort to lure overseas travellers with easy reachability. Malaysia and Indonesia were also in the game to compete for Chinese & Muslim tourists. Singapore is continuously keeping its position as a hub for both business and leisure travellers.
As modern travels evolves tremendously in order to gain greater revenues, hotel,OTAs, airlines and other stakeholders shall utilize on data, technology and marketing innovations to accommodate the discerning guests in new age.
