About the Opportunity
The Australian Risk Team focuses on challenging the status quo and revolutionising the risk management function within Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) Australia. Since its creation, Australian Risk has successfully redesigned the risk management process, and continues to implement innovative tools which significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management in the business.
Based in South Bank head office and working closely with the Australian Risk Leader, the Risk (and Internal Audit) Analyst will be an expert in business processes, identifying key risks and developing and deploying effective risk management strategies, including internal audit reviews to minimise those risks nationally. The Risk Analyst will be the driving force in ensuring the protection of FCTG’s assets and contributing to the ongoing success of the company.
The Australian Risk Team act as experts in assisting operational and finance leaders to own risk management within their business. To be successful in this role you will have the ability to influence those leaders in balancing the competing priorities of strong internal control and operational efficiency.
This role is a 12 month parental leave contract with the potential to be made permanent.
What You Will Be Doing
Identify key risks to the business across all divisions and brands and minimise these through process improvement and efficient internal controls
Develop and deploy effective risk management strategies across all businesses
Perform internal audit reviews and work closely with finance and operational leaders to balance the requirement for effective internal controls with the operational focus on making it easier for our consultants to sell travel
Oversee internal audit activities, ensuring compliance with the internal policies, assessing potential areas of risk to FCTG, and communicating findings to relevant parties
Analyse risk findings and prepare effective reporting for Operational and Finance leaders. Highlight red flags that may pose risk to the business along with actions taken to mitigate these risks
Identify and test internal controls, providing feedback and constructive criticism for opportunities for improvement
Enhance and maintain Australian Risk’s data driven continuous monitoring processes to target specific risk areas and identify exceptions for targeted risk reviews
Keep abreast of business transformations and take a proactive approach to the consideration of any risk implications so that Australian Risk can partner with the business to ensure appropriate risk response planning
Give assurance over month-end processes including half yearly balance sheet reviews, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement
Support Commercial Leaders in ensuring integrity of financial statements
Liaise between the external auditors and FCTG Commercial and Operational leaders to meet the requirements of the half year and full year audits of the Financial Statements
Enhance and maintain centralised monitoring processes to target specific risk areas and identify exceptions for targeted risk reviews
Ensure compliance with company policies and FCTG minimum standards for financial systems and processes
Assist in specific projects as and when required
What You Will Need
Tertiary qualification in accounting, business or commerce
CPA/CA/CIA qualification desirable
At least 5 years’ experience in risk management or internal audit
Commercial acumen and strong technical knowledge
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels
Proven track record of implementing practical risk management processes
Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing business models/processes in multi-site locations
Strong analytical skills with initiative to resolve issues or pursue business opportunities as they are identified
Track record of leading and developing high performing teams
High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and a pressured environment
Ability to travel at short notice as required
Expertise in BI tools or data analytics desirable
