Orion Expedition Cruises will return Orion II to its owners on the completion of its current charter commitment due to end this November, citing dissatisfaction with aspects of the vessel’s performance behind the decision.
“We have not been satisfied with some performance aspects such as fuel efficiency of the vessel and therefore have decided to return the ship at the completion of the first charter term, “said Sarina Bratton, founder and managing director of Orion Expedition Cruises.
In a company statement released this week, Ms Bratton anticipates the announcement of another vessel soon but does not expect it soon enough to offer voyages to Asia and the Far East in 2013.
The Orion II will still offer expeditions to the Yangtze Delta, Shanghai to Tawau, Java and the temples of Borobudur for the remainder of this year.
