A baggage courier service has launched a new website for travel agents.
Fetchmyluggage.co.uk showcases the brand’s baggage pick-up service that launched earlier this year and is expected to save clients time at the airport by collecting luggage from the customer’s house and transporting it by courier service (DHL) while the client travels. The company has now ramped up its trade activity, including the new site, in the aim to increase sales amongst travel agents, tour operators and cruise lines.
Inghams has already signed up the service for 2013 and Fetchmyluggage director Mark Sutton told Travel Daily it is in talks with other companies to offer the service. The idea behind the service was originally thought of by Sutton and fellow director Colin Gilmour when they realised the anxiety of waiting for luggage to return on the carousel, as well as the add-on luggage charges from low-cost carriers. It has also targeted airlines including easyJet and British Airways on the hook that less baggage will mean lighter aircraft and less fuel used.
“We think the product has scope to appeal to several markets such as golf companies and skiiers with all the equipment, as well as disabled travellers who may otherwise struggle to reach some destinations,” explained Sutton. “There is also potential amongst the grey market [mainly surrounding weight issues with luggage]; wedding parties and luxury travellers. There is a massive opportunity and [for luxury travel] why not add it our product on for £39 when they are already paying a premium”.
Fetchmyluggage has also developed an API for travel agents and plans to release a white-label solution soon.
