The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in collaboration with the Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) and the Indore Hotel Association (IHA), hosted a Knowledge Summit on 4 January 2026 at Hotel Omni Residency in Indore. The event focused on 'Cybersecurity and Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, 2025', aiming to equip hospitality stakeholders with insights into compliance and practical implications of these regulations.
The summit featured prominent figures, including Tulsiram Silawat, Minister of Water Resources for Madhya Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Leaders such as Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, President of FHRAI, and Jimmy Shaw, President of HRAWI, highlighted the importance of understanding the DPDP Act, 2023, for the hospitality industry, which heavily relies on guest data and digital transactions.
Jimmy Shaw noted, “For the hospitality industry, where guest data, digital transactions and technology-driven services are integral, understanding the evolving regulatory environment under the DPDP Act, 2023 has become critically important.” The summit also included a technical session by Abhijit Parab, Partner at Ernst & Young, focusing on cybersecurity and DPDP compliance.
Sumit Suri, President of IHA, emphasised the necessity of robust data protection protocols, stating, “The seamless integration of robust data protection protocols is no longer optional; it is fundamental to operational integrity and guest confidence.” The event underscored the collaborative efforts between FHRAI and HRAWI to strengthen the hospitality sector's data governance framework.
