Finns Beach Club has officially launched Bali's first dedicated search and rescue helicopter, marking a significant advancement in the island's emergency response infrastructure. The helicopter, equipped with hoist capability, is a result of collaboration with SGI Sayap Garuda Indah, a Bali-based search and rescue organisation, and is supported by Indonesia's national search and rescue agency, BASARNAS.
The initiative aims to improve rescue readiness and response times across Bali, particularly in high-traffic coastal and tourism areas. Nusa Medica is providing medical services under the collaboration between SGI and BASARNAS. Finns Beach Club has also introduced fundraising initiatives to support the helicopter's operations, including a special menu where all proceeds go towards search and rescue efforts.
The launch event, held at Finns Beach Club's Elite Rooftop Cabana, featured a live ocean rescue demonstration and a panel discussion on public-private collaboration in emergency response. Finns CEO Beau Whittington emphasised the importance of safety, stating, "We are proud to be funding and supporting this helicopter and to be working alongside SGI and BASARNAS to help protect both the local community and the many Australians who choose Bali as their second home."
SGI's spokesperson highlighted the enhanced capacity to respond quickly to emergencies, whilst a BASARNAS representative noted the importance of partnerships in strengthening national emergency response outcomes. Through this initiative, Finns, SGI, and BASARNAS aim to set a new standard for collaboration between hospitality brands, community organisations, and government in delivering impactful results
