Fire destroys 600 year-old Hanoi pagoda

The tower section of a 600 year-old pagoda in Hanoi was destroyed by a fire that broke out last week, local news portal VnExpress has reported. The blaze engulfed the Vietnamese capital’s Tao Sach Pagoda in the early hours of last Thursday morning. The pagoda, which dates back to the 15th Century, is a national heritage site and housed ancient manuscripts and other cultural artefacts. It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
