It is also a time to fill-up your super-soaker, take to the streets and enter the world’s biggest water fight! Songkran festivities are taking place all across Thailand this month, so here is Travel Daily’s guide to the latest hotel offerings from the Kingdom.
Dusit gets wet in Phuket
Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket has launched its ‘Dusit Songkran Splash’ promotion, offering 25% off best available rates, inclusive of complimentary breakfast, for guests staying a minimum of two consecutive night during Songkran. Guests will also receive a Songkran Survival Kit, which includes a water pistol, powder, towel and t-shirt, plus an etiquette card detailing the ‘dos and don’ts’ of the festival. On 13 April, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket will also hold a full Songkran festival programme, including morning ceremony, Thai dancing, a martial arts show, cooking competition and traditional games. Fun-filled Songkran at Hansar Bangkok
The Hansar Bangkok is celebrating the Songkran Festival with a new fun-filled accommodation package. From 11-15 April 2013, the all-suite property is offering a two-night stay in a Studio Suite for two people, inclusive of daily breakfast, a welcome drink on arrival, free flow Singha beer in the minibar, free Wi-Fi, a 60-minute oil massage, two traditional Songkran desserts and a ‘Songkran Survival Kit’ which includes two water pistols, two zip-lock bags and environmentally-friendly sunblock. Traditional Thai New Year at Rawee Waree
Immerse yourself in Thai culture this Songkran, with a stay at the Rawee Waree Luxury Hotel in Chiang Mai. On the hotel’s rooftop, poolside amBar’s annual Songkran Pool Party returns on 13 April this year, featuring six DJs, snacks and drinks with a pirate theme. Entry is free. The Ambassador Hotel Bangkok, in the centre of the Thai capital’s Sukhumvit area, has announced its ‘Songkran Celebration Package’ with special rates for guests this Thai New Year.
