Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline, flyadeal, has launched five new routes from its latest operational base in Madinah, marking a significant expansion in its services. The airline now offers flights to Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen and four domestic destinations: Abha, Al Hofuf, Jazan, and Tabuk. This expansion increases flyadeal's weekly flights from Madinah by 40%, bringing the total to 88.
The new routes elevate the number of destinations served from Madinah’s Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport from three to eight, previously including Dammam, Riyadh, and Cairo. Two aircraft are now stationed permanently at the airport, joining flyadeal’s other bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
Steven Greenway, flyadeal CEO, stated, “This expansion of five new routes at the beginning of the year is a statement of intent from flyadeal to develop Madinah into one of our key operational bases.” He emphasised the strategic importance of Madinah as a gateway for pilgrims and its potential to enhance travel options within the Kingdom and beyond.
The airline's Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Rogier van Enk, highlighted the aim to cater to both outbound holidaymakers and business travellers, as well as inbound pilgrims. The expansion aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to boost air travel connectivity.
Flyadeal’s growth strategy includes increasing its fleet to over 100 aircraft by 2030, with plans to triple its network to more than 100 destinations. Tickets for the new routes are available through flyadeal’s mobile app, website, and travel agents.
