FTAs up 2.8% in March

Foreign Tourist Arrival (FTAs) showed a growth of 2.8% in March 2013, over March 2012.
India received 6.40 lakh tourists last month as compared to 6.23 lakh arrivals in March 2012. During the first three months of 2013, the country received 20.27 lakh with a growth of 2.3% as compared to the FTAs of 19.81 lakh with a growth of 10.9% between January-March 2012 over the corresponding period of 2011.
The country’s Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) last month touched INR9,491 crore as against INR7,843 crore in March 2012. Fees from tourism in rupee terms during the first three months of 2013 were INR30,075 crore with a growth of 20.5% as compared to the FEE of INR24,968 crore with a growth of 31.7% during January to March 2012. The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in March 2013 over March 2012 was 21.0% as compared to 42.0% in March 2012.
