Grab has launched 13 new AI-powered experiences at its annual GrabX 2026 event in Jakarta, Indonesia, aiming to transform its superapp into an intelligent everyday guide for millions across Southeast Asia. These innovations are designed to simplify daily life, facilitate seamless travel, and empower businesses.
The new features are categorised into three main areas: Local Life, Effortless Travel, and Business Empowerment. For Local Life, Grab introduces Group Ride, which allows up to four people to share a vehicle with coordinated pickups and split payments. GrabMaps for Consumers helps users locate nearby amenities such as EV chargers and parking spots, and provides indoor maps for navigating malls and buildings.
In the Effortless Travel category, the Personalised Travel Experience and Discover features aim to reduce travel hassles by offering reminders for flight updates and arrival card requirements, as well as local food reviews and recommendations. These tools are designed to help travellers move across borders with minimal friction.
For Business Empowerment, Grab offers merchant-partners tools like the Virtual Store Manager and Cloud Printer, which automate manual workflows using AI-powered computer vision. This technology monitors hygiene and foot traffic, and synchronises food orders between front counters and kitchens. Driver-partners can benefit from the Driver AI Assistant, a chatbot providing real-time advice to enhance driving efficiency and earnings.
These solutions are powered by the Grab Intelligence Layer, an AI infrastructure built on insights from 20 billion rides and orders. Philipp Kandal, Grab's Chief Product Officer, stated, “AI should work the hardest for the people who need it most. We want the Grab app to be the Everyday Guide that handles the manual tasks, so you can focus on your day.”
As Grab continues to innovate, these AI-driven features are set to redefine convenience and efficiency for users and partners across Southeast Asia
