Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) signed a Memorandum ofย Understanding (MoU) with The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA),ย aiming to provide career opportunities to the pilots-to-be and establish a talentย pipeline to the local aviation industry.
Recovery of the global aviation industry is in sight, and the demand for qualified pilotsย in Hong Kong and Mainland China is expected to remain strong. The HKIAAโs Flightย Training and Engineering Training Centre leverages collaboration with industryย partners to develop a series of highly effective pilot training, supporting theย sustainable development of the aviation industry in Hong Kong and the region.
The MoU was signed by Liza Ng, Chief Operating Officer of GBA, and Simon Li,ย President of HKIAA, witnessed by Captain Kai Chung, General Manager of Flightย Operations of GBA, and Captain Jack Ip, Director of Flight Training and Engineering ofย HKIAA.
Simon Li said, โThe HKIAA will soon launch the Cadet Pilot Programme with anย intention to nurture local airline pilots to meet the industryโs increasing demand forย pilots. We are delighted the programme is well supported by home-based carriers.ย GBA and other partner airlines will offer job interviews to the programme students.ย We hope this new course will inspire aspiring talents to join the profession, furtherย reinforcing Hong Kong as a civil aviation hub and training centre.โ
Liza Ng welcomes the launch of the programme. โGBAโs network continues toย expand since we commenced scheduled service in July 2022. I believe this programmeย will benefit the airline by nurturing more pilots as we are adding more destinationsย and growing our fleet to meet the market demand,โ she said.
Under the MoU, GBA will offer preliminary interviews to the students of HKIAAโs Cadetย Pilot Programme and interviews for the post of Second Officer to the graduates.
GBA commenced scheduled service in July 2022 and is currently operating flights toย Bangkok, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Ho Chi Minh City.
