Loganair, the UK's leading regional airline, has partnered with OpenAirlines to become the first UK regional carrier to implement SkyBreathe, a global fuel-efficiency platform. The technology, which leverages artificial intelligence and data analytics to identify fuel-saving opportunities, is now operational across Loganair's network. This move aligns with the airline's GreenSkies programme, aiming for net zero emissions by 2040.
SkyBreathe, used by over 80 airlines worldwide including Air France and Korean Air, provides actionable recommendations to operational teams and flight crews to enhance fuel efficiency. By joining the SkyBreathe community, Loganair will benefit from shared insights and experiences of other airlines.
Loganair CEO Luke Farajallah expressed pride in adopting SkyBreathe, stating, “Fuel efficiency is not just a cost issue for a regional airline – it is central to our ability to keep connecting communities across Scotland and the wider UK in a way that's commercially sustainable and environmentally responsible.”
OpenAirlines CEO Alexandre Feray highlighted Loganair's commitment to reducing its environmental impact, noting that SkyBreathe will enable the airline to transform flight data into concrete fuel-saving actions and reduce CO₂ emissions.
This partnership underscores Loganair's dedication to sustainable aviation. The airline's GreenSkies programme, launched in 2021, focuses on emissions reduction and next-generation aircraft, supporting its goal to achieve net zero by 2040. Additionally, the GreenSkies Community Fund aids charities, community groups, and small businesses in their sustainability efforts
