Following Blue Islands’ ceasing operations on Friday 14 November, Loganair acted swiftly to protect essential connectivity for the Channel Islands, commencing flights on Sunday 16 November and ensuring affected customers could reach their destinations with minimal disruption.
Since then, Loganair has continued to build resilience across the Jersey routes, providing vital lifeline services to the UK mainland. The airline has been open about its intention to submit the appropriate licences to operate the Guernsey–Jersey and Guernsey–Southampton routes, recognising the critical importance of secure, year-round air links for islanders.
Luke Farajallah, CEO of Loganair, said:“We have had constructive and positive meetings with the States of Guernsey, details of which have remained confidential due to the sensitive nature of our licence application. At this point in the process, and with the public consultation active, I’d like to take this opportunity to reiterate our position.
“Reliable, year‑round air links between Guernsey, Jersey and the mainland are not simply convenient, they are lifeline services for families, businesses, healthcare, and community groups.
“Loganair’s 63 year heritage means it is naturally well-positioned to provide the support needed to the people of Guernsey. But what really stands us apart is being the UK’s only privately owned, debt-free regional airline operating at scale. With a nationwide footprint and seamless access to the British Airways global network through our codeshare partnership, we offer Bailiwick residents and visitors unmatched choice, reliability, and connectivity. Islanders can count on both lifeline services and world-class travel opportunities, a combination no other regional carrier can provide.”
A proven, resilient operator - Loganair is the UK’s leading regional airline, and providing lifeline air services is firmly embedded in its DNA. The airline is profitable, privately owned, carries no debt, and operates without reliance on government support. Last year, Loganair transported over 1.5 million passengers across the UK and beyond, supported by a fleet of nearly 40 aircraft, including a growing Jersey base with building to three permanently stationed aircraft, local crews, and engineering support.
Ranked the UK’s most reliable airline in Q2 2025, Loganair brings a level of financial and operational resilience that smaller operators often cannot match, ensuring continuity even under challenging conditions.
The airline firmly believes there is ample room for two operators on the routes to and from Guernsey for which it has applied. A competitive, multi-carrier environment will strengthen long-term resilience, improve affordability, and safeguard essential connectivity for islanders. In operating these services, Loganair will be seeking no financial support from the States of Guernsey.
The reaction from the hospitality and business sectors as well as the general public has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong online support for the airline’s applications and a clear sense that the community is behind this next step. Loganair has expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the support the community has already given them for the application thus far. This signals confidence in the benefits the proposals could bring, both for connectivity and for the broader economy, and reflects a growing expectation that progress is not only welcome but necessary.
