The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has organised a 60-day mango festival starting 11 April to 9 June 2013 in the Kokan region.
The Kokan Alphonso tourism festival has been organised by the MTDC in association with Kokan Green Life. The festival will educate visitors about the varieties of Mangoes grown in Kokan with a four day tour in the region. The tourists will enjoy specialties of the region like Cashew, Jackfruit and Blue berries. The packages will offer accommodation at the farmer’s residence.
Speaking on the mango festival, Dr Jagdish Patil, Managing Director of MTDC said, “This festival will give an opportunity to mango growers, an interactive platform to present the ‘king of fruits’. This festival will generate a lot of interest from various sections of society and it has thus offered the festival space to create a huge market for locals and the tourism sector service providers.”
