MakeMyTrip, in collaboration with Drukair, has unveiled new holiday packages offering direct flights from Ahmedabad to Paro, Bhutan, significantly reducing travel time. Starting from 26 April, the flights will cut the journey from eight hours to just five, eliminating layovers. These packages are available through the MakeMyTrip app, franchisees, and Flamingo outlets across Gujarat.
Bhutan, known for its cultural richness and stunning landscapes, has seen a surge in interest from Indian travellers, particularly from Gujarat. In response, MakeMyTrip has crafted seven-night, multi-city holiday packages starting at $1,200 (INR 99,699) per person. These include authentic Gujarati meals prepared by a dedicated Maharaj, varied accommodation options, and the guidance of both an Indian Tour Manager and a local Bhutanese guide.
Jasmeet Singh, Chief Commercial Officer at MakeMyTrip, highlighted the strategic timing of the launch, aligning with peak travel demand during the summer holidays. "Our partnership with Drukair is aimed at creating exciting new pathways to discover Bhutan's pristine beauty," Singh stated.
Tandi Wangchuk, CEO of Drukair Corporation Limited, emphasised the importance of India as a market and the untapped potential of Ahmedabad. "This partnership allows us to extend direct connectivity to the city with immense travel demand," Wangchuk noted.
The itinerary includes visits to Paro, Punakha, and Thimphu, offering travellers a comprehensive experience of Bhutan's iconic destinations. The direct flight itself promises breathtaking views of the Himalayas, enhancing the overall travel experience. Indian citizens can travel easily with just a valid Passport or Voter ID, and the acceptance of Indian currency in Bhutan simplifies financial transactions
