Marriott India has successfully fulfilled its World Environment Day 2026 pledge by planting 125,000 trees across its network of over 200 hotels nationwide. This initiative, part of the company's "Four Trees Per Room" commitment, builds on the previous year's milestone of 100,000 trees, showcasing Marriott's dedication to sustainability and community engagement. Over 7,700 associates volunteered more than 21,000 hours to support this environmental effort.
The tree plantation drives were conducted in collaboration with local authorities, environmental organisations, NGOs, and community partners across various Indian cities. The focus was on restoring green cover, supporting biodiversity, and enhancing local ecosystems to contribute to long-term climate resilience. Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of Marriott India Business Council, stated, "Together, we are creating a greener future whilst contributing meaningfully to the wellbeing of our communities and the planet."
In Goa, W Goa and other Marriott hotels partnered with the Kripa Foundation in Anjuna for a local tree plantation drive. W Goa planted approximately 80 saplings within its resort, placed 100 plants in associate spaces, and donated 50 plants to a local NGO. General Manager Nishal Seebaluck emphasised the resort's commitment to environmental responsibility, saying, "By investing in initiatives that strengthen local ecosystems and promote collective action, we hope to contribute to the long-term preservation of Goa’s natural heritage."
Marriott India's sustainability efforts extend beyond tree planting, with ongoing initiatives in energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing, aiming to create a lasting positive impact for future generations
