MAS plans major cost-cutting drive

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plans to reduce its costs between MYR700 million and MYR1 billion (US$199 million-US$284 million) this year, Managing Director Idris Jala said on Friday. According to a Bernama report, Jala said this was one of the national carrier’s plans to make the business viable during the current global economic crisis. It was not detailed how these cost-cutting measures would be achieved.
